Thomas E.  Pomilla
POMILLA, Thomas E., age 90, a life-long resident of Garfield, died on January 7, 2011. He was an Army Air Corps Technician Sergeant in the 942nd Engineer Aviation Topographical Battalion during WWII receiving the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal. Employed by Okonite Co, Passaic, he was a Mill Hand and Shop-Stewart for 42 years retiring in 1982, he was a parishioner of Mt. Virgin Church, a founding member of the 20th Century Athletic Association, founding member of the Garfield Little League Baseball, and a member of the VFW, AARP, and Golden Agers all of Garfield. He is predeceased by his son-in-law George F. Batelli, Sr. in 2002, and his brother Frank Pomilla. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lucy (nee Petronzi), a son, Tom Pomilla and his wife Rosemarie, a daughter, Linda Batelli, a sister-in-law Grace Pomilla, five grandchildren, George F., Dawn and her husband Brian, Thomas J. and his wife Shelley, Sherry, and David and his wife Andrea, and 7 great-grandchildren. The funeral is Tuesday, January 11, 2011, arriving at the Aloia Funeral Home at 8 am followed by a 9 am mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, Garfield. Interment St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi. Visiting Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations for the Garfield AARP and Golden Agers. Condolences/Directions visit aloiafuneral.com
